Deep tissue massage works to release the soft tissue and fascia that surrounds the muscles and body. While the term deep tissue massage is very subjective, the process behind deep tissue massage is to work with the soft tissue to help break down scar tissue, adhesions and muscle spasms. Once these tissues are worked on, the muscles will be able to move more freely, which will lead to a reduction in pain. As the pain is reduced, the soft tissue will then be able to stretch more and ease the symptoms of stiffness and tension.
