    I used to think hydration was just basic maintenance, something you did passively while actually training. Wrong. Dead wrong. About two years ago I realized I was leaving serious performance on the table because I treated water like a checkbox instead of a strategic weapon. I paid attention to what I was drinking before bed because better hydration at night meant better sleep quality and less cramping.

    What nobody talks about is how much better you feel when you're actually dialed in on this. Not just performance-wise, though that's real. I'm talking about the daily energy, the mental clarity, the quality of your workouts. Everything gets smoother. Your skin looks better. Your digestion improves. You recover faster between sessions. The domino effect is wild.

    I went from randomly throwing back sports drinks to understanding my specific needs for different activities and conditions. That's the shift. Hydration went from something I did to something I strategized about, and that small change created surprisingly big results.

    This isn't complicated science but it requires actual attention. Most people never take ten minutes to calculate their sweat rate or figure out their ideal electrolyte balance. That's exactly why it's such an easy edge to gain on people who are out there grinding.
