Event Details

  • Given the central nature of Cheap POE Orbs maps in War for your Atlas, the feature itself involved a lot of time in development. It's been a work beginning over the course with the last expansion, but also during the entire lifespan of PoE itself. The design in the system is driven by two design goals: Random levels are critical and "anywhere is usually a functional end-game". Most interestingly, GGG considered issues affecting the ARPG genre in general and exactly how it planned to cope with the boredom that numerous players find at end game: The major problem that we faced in the event the end-game was at this state was staleness of a final areas. Players who planned to find the best items and earn one of the most experience were compelled to repeat the identical few areas again and again. While the random levels were doing a great deal of work, we needed much more variety. In the 0.8.6 patch, we added a particular end-game known as the Maelstrom of Chaos. This became a set of consecutive areas that tapered upwards in difficulty level, with random monsters and random tilesets (from your selection of eight).
