Posted in the topic MBTI types and gambling in the forum Off-Topic Discussions
    January 24, 2023 7:38 AM EST

I did a search for gambling, but even though I found type specific posts and one about gambling addiction, I didn't find any that just talked about gambling for fun.

I recently started gambling in casinos about two years ago, and it's become one of my favorite hobbies. I don't have an addiction, and I only ever gamble using fun money....I view it as paying money for entertainment. Thankfully there aren't any casinos near me, so it's much easier for me to keep it in control and only do it as kind of a fun celebration.

And I've noticed that casinos are packed. So there are plenty of people that gamble. But it seems like everyone on a forum like this has no interest in it, and they seem to think it's only a waste of money and time.

So I was wondering if there was any relation at all between gambling and type. And if not, I was wondering what other factors would lead to some people liking to gamble and others not.

It seems like NTs would be against it unless they saw some logical way to gain an edge (and then it's not gambling any more, it's advantage play).

Stereotypically you would think SPs would value it more, but it seems like the SP threads were full of people uninterested in it.

You'd think ISFJs and ISTJs would also be types least inclined to gamble. For me, I do it all for the social experience. That's why I love playing craps...it's a very communal game where people get to win and lose together. So I like to play because you get to connect with and have a good time with total strangers (or friends if you choose to play with them).

I have an ESTJ friend who likes to play poker because he's very competitive and likes the idea of beating others. I think it's fascinating that I like more cooperative games and he likes more competitive ones. It seems like there's an Fe vs. Te connection there.

So I was curious to hear what others thought, even though I know there have been similar threads to this one before.

Interested in hearing people's experiences regarding hair loss with FOLFIRI, especially as compared with FOLFOX. I had hair thinning with FOLFOX, but not total hair loss. I understand FOLFIRI causes more serious hair loss. Did anyone just have hair thinning with this?

I know, I have more important things to think about than this!......but hey it's important, too!

Am I the only one that's going to be spending Christmas all alone without friends or GF?
