Rarely slide tackle. Many people try to slide tackle when they're just starting out. Resist this temptation because it puts you in a bad habit. When I teach someone, I sometimes do not even tell them to slide the pulley button until a few games.
Do not worry. When defending, you want to have patience, only when your opponent made a mistake to deal with. When your opponent holds the ball for a long time, it is easy to feel anxious and try to sprint. Resistance to impulse!
Keep your strength. Do not sprint. It will make your players tired; they will be less efficient in the latter part of the game (more easily injured). A good rule of thumb is if your (defensive) shape becomes very bad (if you are a beginner, you may not be able to say it) or if an attacking player has just ran through one of your defenders (so you either Sprint with a defeated player to catch the attacking player, FIFA 17 ps4 Coins or a different player if the defeated player can not be recovered quickly enough).
