Sonos wins early in an ongoing legal battle with Google. on friday A federal judge with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has made a preliminary decision on a complaint the company filed against Google in early 2020, alleging that the search giant infringed on five of its patents. The judge said Google shouldn't import devices that infringe Sonos' intellectual property based on the five validations.

the ALJ found that all five Sonos-confirmed patents are valid and that Google infringes all five of them. We are pleased that the ITC has confirmed that Google is blatantly infringing on Sonos' patents," said Sonos Chief Legal Officer Eddie Lazarus. This is another confirmation of the strength and breadth of our portfolio. This is a promising step forward in our long-term quest to protect our innovations from Big Tech monopoly embezzlement.

As The New York Times noted The judge's decision is not final, and all ITC bodies must make a final decision before any amendment orders are made. With a meeting scheduled for December 13 that won't take place for a few more months.José Castañeda, a spokesperson for Google, said: “We do not use Sonos technology and we compete for the quality of our products and the value of our ideas. "We disagree with this preliminary ruling and will continue the trial in the upcoming review process
