Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis, better known by his stage name Theo James, is an American film and television actor. He made his film debut with the 2010 comedy-drama You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, while he made his television debut that same year with the two-part miniseries A Passionate Woman. However, he is best known for his portrayal of Jed Harper in the supernatural drama Bedlam.
YOUTHJames was born to Jane, an employee of the National Health Service, and Philip Taptiklis, a business consultant, on December 16, 1984 in Oxford, England. James, the youngest of five siblings, was educated at Aylesbury Grammar School, after which he continued his studies in Philosophy at the University of Nottingham. He later trained in theater at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School.
TELEVISION CAREERJames made his television debut in 2010 with the two-part miniseries A Passionate Woman and was cast alongside Billie Piper and Joe Armstrong. He has appeared in an episode or two of shows like Downton Abbey, Case Sensitive, and Room at the Top. However, his most important television performance is that of the supernatural drama series Bedlam, where he played the role of Jed Harper. Playing the role of Walter William Clark, Jr., James appeared on the crime drama series Golden Boy. However, the creators canceled the series after its first season despite positive reviews.

Theo james movies debut the same year he made his television debut, James appeared in the comedy-drama You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger alongside Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Gemma Jones and Freida Pinto. After his debut, he appeared in the 2013 coming-of-age comedy film The Inbetweeners Movie. Playing the role of David, James appeared in the 2012 action horror film Underworld 4: Awakening alongside Kate Beckinsale, Michael Ealy and India Eisley. He was later cast in the sci-fi action film Divergent, starring Shailene Woodley, Ashley Judd, and Jai Courtney. Reprising the role of David, he was seen in The Divergent Series: Insurgent, which, despite opening itself to mostly negative reviews, became a commercial success. The following year, he was seen reprising his role, once again, in the third installment of The Divergent Series: The Divergent Series: Allegiant, which was a grosser medium but failed to be as successful as Insurgent. . In 2016, the actor reprized his role as David and appeared in Underworld: Blood Wars. Other projects include Matthew Cullen's thriller London Fields opposite Amber Heard, Jim Sturgess, Johnny Depp and Cara Delevingne, and the political thriller Backstabbing for Beginners opposite Ben Kingsley.
