GNSS signals have a relatively low signal strength on earth, which is why it is relatively easy for cyber criminals to interfere with or willfully falsify GNSS reception, for example by jamming or spoofing. “In order to be able to use GNSS, at least four satellites are required, all of which share the frequency bands. It is illegal to transmit on these frequencies, that is, to deliberately interfere with the satellite signals, ”explained DIGITAL expert Roman Lesjak during his lecture. A jammer transmits on the same frequency as the signal to be jammed. However, if the jammer sends its signal much stronger, it renders the original signal unusable - making communication more difficult or impossible.

In WLAN this means that the exchange of data packets only works to a limited extent or not at all and the actual data stream can no longer be put together correctly. This can be a critical problem for devices that perform security-related tasks.
