Immediately in Fallout 76 Weapons front of you're a little bit of ammunition and a Responder's corpse using a tube gun. Take it and anything else you'll find. Do not go exploring to the appropriate. 2 Liberator robots are there. As mentioned previously, melee weapons will be critical in your early adventures.
Moving south along the path, if you venture off to the left/west you will encounter a pond and, near it, what resembles an elevated shelter or deer stand. This isn't marked on your map and isn't a discoverable location. Inside are trash items and some helpful supplies. There's also a banjo and a mouth harp on the two chairs here.
Continuing south toward the quest icon which is the buy Fallout 76 Items Overseer's Camp. Stop by Wixon Homestead, but be prepared to fight several of the Scorched. Use your machete on as many as possible to conserve ammunition.
The Scorched here are low-level and probably will not kill you, however you can still take enough damage to require a Stimpak after it is all over. If you encounter or otherwise disturb one, it will disintegrate and shed radiation (about 10 RADs) for a short while.
