Unfortunately, it’s hard to know in advance whether someone’s attitude are going to be detrimental for your guild. I once were built with a friend of mine who I had known in wow for seven years, and in addition they never was arrogant or negative, then again one day, after in my guild for 6 months, they showed real negativity and arrogance towards their fellow guildmates. I naturally asked myself the questions: “Could this have already been prevented?” I determined that it could haven't. However, when you can’t always foresee someone’s future attitude you are able to at least identify those people who could potentially cause some ruckus.
It’s ok to question the status-quo, so long as there are bigger and ideas behind the criticism. Fighting over trivial things with officers or any other guildmates is really a sure manifestation of arrogance. If the individual is actively offering methods to better the guild or even help folks out then that’s another story.
So when these attitudes start showing up within a guild you must pull them aside and say to them that their behavior is unacceptable and that they ought to change their attitude. If they continue from then on then its the perfect time to boot them. This lets the opposite guild members understand that an arrogant and negative attitude won’t make them anywhere in your guild, or location in real life for example. However, don’t forget that when you have clear rules and expectations set for your guild, then folks are fully aware of what you expect from their store.
