Ultimately, this is one reason I've become such a big fan of Fortnite materials. It tells such a unique story in such a unique way. No dialogue, no movies, no personality sketches; rather, the story is woven right into the match through events, changes from the map, and community sleuthing. It is such a distinctly video game type of story and Epic tells it with participation from the crowd.
For instance, once the rocket launched it pointed a quartet of laser-beams at Tilted Towers, the place on the map that lots of fans theorized that the comet would destroy at the end of Season 4. It was almost certainly Epic nodding to those theories. Subsequently the rocket entered a rift only a split second before bumping into Tilted, sparing the little city from a second existential threat.
Could this have happened if nobody had ever considered Tilted since the Cheap fortnite items comet's target? Perhaps. Perhaps not. It is difficult to say--but it certainly seems like Epic riffing off of the Fortnite community. There's a definite back-and-forth at play, a give-and-take. And it's charming and fun and supporting all at once.
