MLB 18 stubs announced it will eliminate Online Franchise Mode this season. The studio clarified this was due to the modifications made for the game's network code, which was revamped to avoid online issues that have plagued the series for many games now. But fans still aren't pleased with the most recent developments.
At a post made on the game's official website, representatives for MLB The Show announced that in order to prioritize"the stability and rate of their online infrastructure for MLB The Show 18" Online Franchise mode needed to be cut. "This was not a simple choice to make and we understand some of you will be let down with this change, but we think focusing on continuing to improve our online operation was the ideal priotiy for Your Display 18."
The wording it was this year's specific online overhaul which resulted in Online Franchise Mode's cut led some fans to believe that the door is available for the mode to return in next year's iteration of the game, Buy MLB the show stubs. However, a lot of fans have responded negatively to the news, even those who don't really play Online Franchise.
On reddit, anger has taken ahold of commenters, but it mostly feels just like indignation from non-Online Franchise Mode MLB The Show 18 players reacting in sympathy. "Wow. I never played Online Franchise but I know folks who pretty much would only play this mode," wrote one commenter. "Somewhat scummy of [San Diego Studios] with significantly less [than] a month until release and a few MLB The Show 18 players've pre-ordered the match for this particular mode and they simply drop this bombshell."
