A week ago, I freaked out and switched to the Lastel MacBook Air on the M1. Decided to minimize the number of apps installed on it without native support for the first chip in the Apple Silicon line. Rosetta 2 is super, but still faster without it.
I had to give up on Pocket, which has stopped being refined under macOS. Instead of it storing materials on the internet, I now use Instapaper. I have also managed to replace other software successfully. There were some new findings as well.
1. VLC - a multifunctional multimedia combine.
Why: One of the most popular multimedia players, supporting video, audio, and image. Many users wonder very often about how to play mp4 on mac because they may be faced with the fact that they can not open a file they have downloaded from the internet or shared with their friends.
I prefer to consume through this application. Nothing more adequate yet. The great potential and possibilities of this application are amazing. If you have yet to try it, I recommend it.
2. Tuxera NTFS - adding NTFS support to macOS.
Why: An indispensable tool to handle the NTFS file system, ubiquitous outside the Apple ecosystem.
This utility adds full-featured work with a file system virtually unavailable to Macs as a standard.
3. Reeder 5 is one of the best RSS readers in the Apple ecosystem.
Why: A favorite among RSS readers that, among other things, also can automatically mark "Read" for content you've scrolled through.
Hundreds of interesting files can be added to this app to make reading as convenient as possible.
4. Instapaper is a storage reader for your favorite web content.
Why you need it: this third-party reader will securely store all the stuff from the internet that you want to read but can't do it right now.
So far, I've just started using this app instead of Pocket. In appearance and features, it wins over a competitor its developers forgot about.
