WHAT IS A RESPONSIVE WEB DESIGN?

Responsive Web Design (RWD), is a webdesign method used to design websites so that they display nicely on any device. This means that those who visit the website via a tablet or mobile phone will have the same great experience as those who visit it via a regular desktop computer. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of people who think that only a few of their visitors come from a mobile phone, and therefore won't spend the money and time to update their old website. Big mistake!

If you have any doubts about the responsiveness of your website, you can test it in different formats at: responsive check

Or try it on your own mobile phone.

WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A RESPONSIVE WEBSITE

If your website or webshop doesn't display properly on a mobile phone or tablet, there's a good chance it's costing you customers as they leave in frustation over your poor webdesign. Internet users have become quite picky, so if things don't work properly or it's hard to read the text without having to zoom, they're quick to hit the back button or close the page completely. Many Danish websites lose thousands of dollars every month because they have not considered that the majority of their visitors probably come from a mobile device. We even see quite often that many of these sites throw money after paid Adwords ads, without even noticing that their mobile traffic is not converting at all.
Recent studies show that over 40% of businesses here in 2022 - still do not have a responsive website.

If you are unsure how many of your visitors are coming from mobile devices, you can install Google Analytics on your website for free and then start measuring it afterwards. This way, you can also get an insight into which of your subpages visitors are using correctly and which are not working optimally for users.

    RESPONSIVE WEBDESIGN AND SEO

Another good reason why you should have a mobile-friendly website is if you are focused on SEO and your search engine rankings. If your website is not mobile friendly, then you risk losing rankings, and therefore losing traffic to the website. As more and more people use mobile devices, it will also become more important when we talk SEO. Google, for example, has slowly switched to using their mobile first index, which roughly means that people searching on mobile won't necessarily see the same results as those searching on desktop. If one's website is not mobile friendly, then you risk a lower ranking on the mobile first index, and thus you risk missing out on a lot of mobile traffic.

LAYOUT AND STIL OF YOUR WEBDESIGN

It's also important that your webdesign fits the style and colors of your customer audience. it makes them feel like they have arrived at the right place, and will be easier to get to buy your products, services or whatever they came to do. Also keep in mind that the style and layout of your website represents your brand and visuel identity.

    WEBSITE LOADTIME AND SPEED

Having a slow website can cost you money. Research shows that if a website takes more than 3 seconds to load, chances are that up to 30% of the visitors will leave the website before it's even finished loading. And even worse. Load times are now something search engines like Google also reward your website for. Having a blazing fast webdesign makes your visitors more happy, and happy visitors are more likely to become a customer. So speed also affects your conversion ratios - which is most likely one of the most important facts for especially webshop solutions.

This was a tiny bit about why a great webdesign is important, and why it's certainly something you should focus on when building a new website or webshop.
