There are many challenges associated with a public playgrounds as compared to the backyard version. This is coined to the fact that the latter has many safety measures as compared to  state-owned. Nonetheless, there are two main forward steps that you can take after spotting dangerous equipment in the playground. One is to limit your child from accessing that area. The other is to ask the playground owner to rectify the problem. Besides, many ways can be used to verify the safety of a playground as covered in this article.

    Gadget guide

A safe playground should not have heavy metal swings such as gliders and animal figures. This prevents the occurrence of numerous injuries as no more than one ride would take place at a time. Besides, it is free from swinging ropes, especially those that can form loops or fray. It also does not have trapeze bars and swinging exercise rings which are designed as equipment for athletics. Instead, it should have short-chained overhead rings that are used in the progression of children in distance spanning.

    Nets and moving parts

The parts used in moving can crush or pinch the finger of a child. So, there is a need to give special attention to some equipment such as seesaws, merry-go-round, suspension bridges, and others. The problem experienced here can be avoided by lubricating the moving parts. When it comes to nets, they can pose a risk to children if they have holes that can be used by children to get their heads through. So, before allowing the children to play, make sure the nets have small holes for their heads to go through or big enough in a way that they can pull it out easily.

    Metal and woods

    Metals

The safe playground has galvanized or painted metals to prevent them from rusting. This hinder the structure from becoming weak or develops a broken or sharp edge. The same can be prevented by applying slip-resistant materials in parts used for gripping or climbing.

Morever, check on the hotness of the metal surface, such as slides or still decks, before allowing children to play on them. The reason for doing so is that such a surface becomes very hot to an extent of causing the body burn, particularly after being exposed to direct sunlight. Many cases have been reported of children suffering second and third-degree burns on their hands, legs, and buttocks after unknowingly sitting on such surfaces. Young toddlers are at risk of persevering that problem unlike older children as they may not be able to pull away quickly after contact with those surfaces. Woods

The equipment made of wood can deteriorate, which may be followed by splinting. In this case, the bolts used to join them may become loose. It would be wise to report the matter to the person in charge of the playground immediately after noticing this problem. Some people have minimized such problems by using space-age plastic equipment as they do not require constant maintenance and also do not get very hot as metals.
