Korean archery finishes the world championship with two gold medals... Women's 'No Medal' Sumo

'Strongest' women's national team, unable to win medals in individual and team events... First time in 44 years

Korea's recurve archery ended the 2023 Berlin World Championships by winning two gold medals despite the sluggish performance of the women's national team. 바카라

Ansan (Gwangju Women's University), Kang Chae-yeong (Hyundai Mobis), and Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University) of the women's national team were eliminated in the quarterfinals on the last day of the competition held in Berlin, Germany on the 6th.

It is the first time in 12 years since the 2011 Turin Games that the Korean Recurve Women's National Team failed to win a single medal in the individual event at the World Championships.

Previously, the women's national team failed to win a medal after losing to Indonesia in the round of 16 in the team event.

It is the first time in 44 years since the 1979 Berlin Games that the Korean women's recurve team failed to win a single medal in the individual and women's team events at the World Championships.

The only medal the women's national team won in this event is the mixed gender gold medal, which was won by Im Si-hyeon and Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall).

In the quarterfinals of the men's team event that followed, Kim Jae-deok was also eliminated, and the Korean national team ended the tournament schedule by failing to harvest medals on the last day.

The recurve national team won one gold medal each in the men's team event featuring Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall), Lee Woo-seok (Kolon), and Kim Je-deok, and the mixed event featuring Kim Woo-jin and Si-hyeon.

Korean recurve archery has shown a mighty figure by sweeping 4 gold medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and creating a 'myth' by sweeping 5 gold medals at the 2021 Yankton World Championships.

Athletes who performed well in the Tokyo Olympics and the Yankton World Championships, such as Kim Woo-jin, Kim Je-deok, Kang Chae-young, and Ansan, were also featured in this year's national team, so 'sweeping in all events' was expected at this event as well.

However, the women's national team was caught on the ankle by Indonesia in the first round of the team event, and it was 'sloppy' from the start.

Players who were eliminated in the women's team event, which had traditionally been the strongest, failed to overcome the pressure and failed to reach the top of the semifinals.

An official from the Korea Archery Association said, "It seems that the poor weather, such as strong rain and wind that occasionally blew through Berlin during the competition, worked as a variable."

It seems that the fact that the threshold for giving direct tickets to the Olympic team event from this event has been raised to some extent has increased the burden on the players.

Until the Tokyo Olympics, direct tickets were given to teams that made it to the quarterfinals of the team competition at the previous World Championships, but from this Paris Olympics, the 'cut line' has risen to 3rd place.

Of course, even if you don't finish in the top 3 at the World Championships, you can win a ticket if you win the Asian Championships or pass the Olympic qualifiers, but it seems that the burden of Korean female archers, who have an obsessive idea that they must always be 'the best', was heavy.

Korean archery has had many poor experiences in the world championships held the year before the Olympics.

At the 2019 s-Hertogenbosch, held before the Tokyo Olympics, they won just one gold medal (two silver and two bronze).

Four years ago, Korean archery moved forward again, using the pain of the poor performance at the World Championships as a driving force, and eventually achieved the best performance in Tokyo.

Ansan, who played the first quarterfinal match in the women’s individual event, lost to Casey Coffold (USA) with a set score of 4-6 (28-29 27-28 28-28 30-29 29-29).

Kang Chae-young, who then competed, defeated Satsuki Noda of Japan with 5-6 (26-27 28-29 29-27 28-28 28-27 <10-+10>), and Si-hyun defeated Marie Horatzkova (Czech Republic) 0- 6 (27-29 28-29 28-29) failed to advance to the semifinals.

Jeduk Kim, who reached the quarterfinals alone in the men's individual event, lost 0-6 (28-0) in the quarterfinal against Marcus Dalmeida (Brazil). 29 29-30 27-28).

The national team will immediately move to Paris, France, to prepare for the Paris Olympics, which is approaching one year from now

Meanwhile, the non-Olympic compound team won a bronze medal in the women's team event at the World Championships.

Oh Yoo-hyeon (Jeonbuk Provincial Office), So Chae-won, and Song Yun-soo (above Hyundai Mobis) won medals.
