Well Point System
The Well Point System is a water-extraction tool. All deep excavations correspond with the expulsion subsil water for foundations or underground constructions.
The perimeter of the project site is protected against excavation shoring by Wellpoint dewatering systems. They are connected to a perimeter discharge line via pump set.
What is the Well Point System?
A well point system is a series of smaller diameter wells that are connected by a header pipe to a centrally located suction pumps.
A well point system is used to dewater. They are suitable for a variety of groundwater conditions and excavations. The overall project's completion time is affected by the dewatering of water.
There are many pump sets that can be found at specific locations depending on site requirements. To make the wellpoint dewatering system more efficient and effective, it is important that the ground strata are permeable in order to allow the wellpoint water to flow.

Well Point Dewatering System
The wellpoint method of dewatering is used to draw down groundwater. It improves working conditions in shallow excavations (typically less than 6 metres in depth).
There are several options for deeper excavations (several m deep) such as multi-tier and staged well point systems.
- The Wellpoint dewatering system is made up of small diameter wells that are installed using water jetting or auguring techniques. It also includes a header pipe, which connects to a centrally located suction pumps.
- Groundwater is extracted via the wellpoint by vacuum created by the pump.
- A wellpoint can draw water from below the ground to 6 meters. It is ideal for tunnel excavations, undergrounds, pipelines, confined spaces and underpasses.
- These pumps include diesel or surface electric suction pumps, as well as super-silenced suction pumps that are used in residential areas.
- The installation of well-point dewatering systems is quick and easy in wet conditions. They are also simple to maintain over the course of the project.

PVC Types That Are Well-Pointed
- PVC well point, which is economically and correctly installed, will drain and stabilize soils to smaller depths.
- This method allows punch casing and the jet rod to be reused in subsequent stages of dewatering. It is therefore a significant savings in material.
- To get maximum water drawdown, the top of the wellpoint should be at least six feet below the line.

Well Point Installation
There are three types: bored/drilled (dug), and driven. For driven well types, well points are required. The water table will determine how deep the wellpoint must be.
- It is crucial to choose the right location when using wellpoint. For ease of installation, it may be preferable to use moist soil layers.
- The entire point must be located below the water table in order to accurately install the wellpoint. Otherwise, the pump will not absorb any air.
- Remember to remember that water tables will eventually drop as the pump runs. The wellpoint must be set at a level below the pump's capacity to draw water down to.
- To account for changes in the water table, ensure that the entire length of your wellpoint is submerged.
